About Us
The Junior Welfare League of York County is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization committed to making a meaningful impact in our community through service, leadership, and compassion. Since our founding in 1954, we have united women across York County who share a common goal: to uplift individuals and families by supporting vital programs that address critical needs in our area.
Our members are passionate, dependable, and community-minded women who dedicate their time, talents, and resources to serve others. Through fundraising events, hands-on volunteer projects, and strategic partnerships with local nonprofits, we work year-round to create positive change. From supporting at-risk youth to funding educational initiatives and basic needs programs, we strive to be a force for good throughout York County.
Membership in the Junior Welfare League is more than volunteering — it’s about building lifelong friendships, developing leadership skills, and creating a legacy of service that strengthens our community for generations to come.
Together, we serve. Together, we make a difference.
Letter from the President
Dear Friends,
What a joy it is to welcome y’all to a brand-new League year! I’m truly honored to serve as President of the Junior Welfare League, and I couldn’t be more excited about the road ahead.
I am so thankful to work with such wonderful service minded women in this league, and I know this year will be full of meaningful moments as we continue to grow together in sisterhood and volunteerism.
One of the things I’m most excited about is our support of this year’s grant recipient: Better Bound Books and Youth Development. Their mission aligns so beautifully with ours and it’s a privilege to stand beside them and help expand their reach in our community.
As we step into this year’s work, I’m reminded that our strength comes not just from what we do, but from that we do it together! Whether we’re planning fundraisers, rolling up our sleeves at service projects, or simply encouraging one another through the busyness of life, the spirit of JWL shines brightest when we lift each other up.
Thank you for being a part of this League, for sharing your time, your talents, and your heart. I look forward to all the laughter, hard work, and shared purpose the year ahead will bring.
With gratitude and excitement,
Claire Palmieri
