Our Grant Opportunities
The Junior Welfare League Grant Program exists to support local nonprofit organizations that align with our mission of serving women, children, and families in York County. Each year, we distribute funds raised through our service and fundraising efforts to deserving groups making a meaningful impact in our community. Grants are awarded to support a wide range of needs—from educational programs and health initiatives to basic supplies and outreach efforts. We are proud to partner with organizations that share our commitment to creating a stronger, healthier, and more equitable York County.
Our Large Grant recipient for the 2026-2027 year is Defend the Fatherless located in Fort Mill, SC.
Be Our Next Grant Recipient
The application for the 2027-2028 year will open in February 2027. Grants are reviewed by a committee and voted on by the membership. Large grant recipients receive funds in May of their nomination year. Please contact jwlyc.service@gmail.com for more information.

We are proud to announce Defend the Fatherless as this year’s grant recipient. Defend the Fatherless is a nonprofit serving support to foster, adoptive and kinship families in York County, SC and surrounding areas. Beginning as the York County Foster Closet in 2016, Defend the Fatherless has grown to include a Frozen Meal Program (EST 2019) and provide space for regular connection events, special programming (Est 2022). Through this partnership, the Junior Welfare League is excited to support the efforts of Defend the Fatherless to cultivate loving, family centric care for those in our community.
